Our Chop, Ride & Party book series are about the rich and wild chopper culture. We document and try to promote choppers and the scene that comes with it. It is a small percentage today of all bikers that still ride and build choppers. Maybe only 2% and they are my readers! I try to show people who love choppers everything that is going on in this scene. Things like the parties, the chopper-exhibitions, the swapmeets, the road-trips but I also write about clubhouses, do portraits of people who meant or mean something special in the Chopper world. There are cartoons in my book, a centerfold with a naked girl in all of them, we have tech tips and much more. We love the lifestyle as it was in the seventies. The bikes, the look of the bikers and the old values of true brotherhood, the need to travel and explore the world and in general doing all the things that can make your life richer thanks to this chopper world of ours.
I myself am riding chopper since 1979. I build them and I seriously ride them. I am one of the founders of the Rogues MC from Holland. And I have been working for biker magazines most of my life. Mags like Iron Horse, Biker magazine, Cycle Source and others. My main job was with the Dutch biker magazine called Bigtwin. When that publication started to go wider with its articles to still draw enough readers I stopped with them and started doing CRP. Only choppers fur this guy!
Our books come out once a year. The plan is to make ten(!) in total and we have done eight so far. Nr.8 has a lot of history in it. We are very proud to have a special of the old Berlin Dragons MC for instance with photos and interview with the founders, but also amazing photos of the chopper scene in Holland from around 1970! We have several columnists who all have something interesting to tell. Dale Arenson, writer of the very popular HANGMEN book. We have Dave Arthur, old member of the San Fernando Valley Satan’s Slaves, we have Horst Heiler from the SAVE THE CHOPPERS book writing for us and many more. We try to show what is happening worldwide but to be honest our main focus is on Europe. Our books read like magazines but are in fact high quality hardcover 200 page books. Very collectable and that is what most readers do, try to buy them all. It is written in English, a kind of English is easy to read, so even the average German or French or Italian biker can read it. The books have cool pictures on every page and have the feel of the old Easyriders magazines of the seventies.
We have the highest respect for the old clubs who started this scene but also write about the new generation of chopper riders that consists of ex skaters and BMXers. We believe that thanks to our efforts these two different chopper scenes are now more open to mix.
Our Chop, Ride & party books are a real family project. My wife, me, my two daughters and both their boyfriends ride choppers. My oldest daughter does all the lay out and takes photos for CRP too, my wife helps selling the books through internet and on the big chopper-events. This year we already were in Verona Italy and Norrtalje Sweden and we can be found in Punta Bagne, France at High Chapparal Luxemburg and at the 101 show in England to name but a few events.
Our books can be ordered from www.choprideandparty.com or from your local Zodiac dealer!
