Oxford, UK (November 2023) - Harley-Davidson is pleased to announce that Joan Pedrero, Dakar's elite rider, will compete in the 2024 Africa Eco Race on a Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250TM. From December 30 to January 14, 2024, participants in the Africa Eco Race will cross the challenging landscapes of two continents, including 6,500 km across Africa. Pedrero will compete in the Maxi-Trail category.

In keeping with the spirit of adventure that is part of the American motorcycle brand's DNA, Harley-Davidson has decided to take on the challenge of off-road racing once again with Joan Pedrero at the helm of the Pan America 1250™, the first H-D Adventure Touring model. Equipped with the powerful Revolution® Max 1250 cc V-Twin engine, a liquid-cooled 1250 cc V-Twin engine, designed to provide abundant power at high revs, Pan America guarantees an experience full of adrenaline and technology at the highest level.

Joan Pedrero has partnered with Harley-Davidson since the introduction of the Pan America 1250, and during that time he has on many occasions pushed the Adventure Touring model to its limits. Throughout 2023, the Dakar rider has participated in many races and challenges across Europe with the Pan America 1250, including the Basella Race where he successfully finished sixth in the overall category. In April he competed in the demanding Baja Extremadura race, where he achieved outstanding results and dominated the Maxi Trail category, and in July he completed the Baja Aragón España race and won the Maxi Trail category.

Harley-Davidson's participation in the upcoming race not only demonstrates the capability and reliability of the Pan America 1250, but also represents the iconic motorcycle brand taking on new challenges and pushing the boundaries of technology and performance. Adventure is part of the brand, and the Pan America 1250 explores new ways to live the true Harley-Davidson experience.

Kolja Rebstock, Harley-Davidson Regional Vice President for Europe, Middle East and Africa said: “Adventure and performance are at the heart of our brand, and we can think of no better way to showcase Pan America's versatility than entering the Africa Eco Race .We are excited to take on this next challenge with Joan Pedrero after the great success we have had in 2023.”

The race, in its 15th year, will start in Monaco on December 30, 2023 and finish in Dakar on January 14, 2024
